A Vision In Texas
Lyrics
A VISION IN TEXAS
Mark Patterson © 2023

I've walked on five continents and crossed every ocean
I swore that I'd make my way home
But I keep under wraps the revelry and the devilry
The miracles I've seen and good fortune I've known

I worked the freighters from Long Beach to Shanghai
The ocean still runs through my veins
But I traded the West Wind for the long-haul and highways
I guess you could say those are my shipping lanes

But etched on my mind there's a vision in Texas
The Rio Grande valley in fact
With those green eyes black hair and gold hoop earrings
She just keeps calling me back

There's a roll of the dice in every trip back to your stompin' grounds
You never know what you might find
And it doesn't take long 'til you find yourself wonderin'
With all that you had why you left it behind

Now the moon's shining bright on that high southbound overpass
Sayin' better turn here while you can
It shines like a beacon showin' me that what I'm seekin'
Is right there in the place where my story began

Etched on my mind there's a vision in Texas
The Rio Grande valley in fact
With those green eyes black hair and gold hoop earrings
She just keeps calling me back

With those green eyes black hair and gold hoop earrings
She just keeps calling me back

She just keeps calling me back
She just keeps calling me back
