The Door To Your Dreams
Lyrics
THE DOOR TO YOUR DREAMS
Mark Patterson
Copyright 2022

It was a wonderful day, didn't we have fun
Under the watchful eye of the Southern sun
But with the moon on the rise it's time it would seem
To close your eyes - and open the door to your dreams

Chorus:
In your dreams you were born to fly
You can float on the breeze with the butterflies
You can sleep on a cloud and catch the moonbeams
When you close your eyes - you open the door to your dreams

Pull the covers up tight and lay your head down
There's nothing to fear when there's love all around
Hear the heavens sing to doves on the wing
Just close your eyes - and open the door to your dreams

(Chorus)

When you close your eyes - you open the door to your dreams
Close your eyes
Close your eyes
Just close your eyes

Short Song Description:
The Door To Your Dreams is a lullaby with country pop/country influences.
Long Song Description:
The song was written as a musical legacy to the children in my family. It's meant to have a dream-like quality to it, something that the little ones might fall asleep to. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Nashville.
Story Behind the Song:
I wrote the song after visiting my granddaughter in Houston and learning that another grandchild was on the way. On the drive back to Dallas I came up with the words and the melody, then finished the arrangement that night at home.
